Three Zicam products were recalled in June of 2009 because the FDA had received over 130 reports of people who had lost their sense of smell after using Zicam. The medical term for loss of smell is anosmia. The loss of smell sometimes occurred after just one use of Zicam, while in other individuals, the loss of smell occurred after multiple uses.
Some individuals who lost their sense of smell reported painful burning sensations in their nose after using Zicam, while others did not have those sensations.
Loss of smell can be either permanent or temporary, and can be either total or partial. In other words, the use of Zicam does not affect everyone the same way. If you believe you lost all or part of your sense of smell after using one of the Zicam cold remedies, you may want to speak to a lawyer to see if you have a potential Zicam lawsuit. Zicam has settled previous lawsuits in the past, and may be open to settling additional lawsuits. If you use the contact form below, I will put you in touch with a Zicam attorney who will investigate your case and explain to you what your legal rights are.
